Have you got a list?
No! - Why ever not? (if you have congratulations)
List building was never easy. It was always something you knew you had to do, but it was laborious tedious and sometimes downright boring.
BUT, unless you've got a 'list' who on earth are you going to sell to? SPAM is definitely NOT the answer.
How do you think the big players created their lists - and I say lists because they have a separate list for each product they sell ! Those lists didn't happen as if by magic.
They were doing something they'd never tell you except they were always saying "The money is in the List"
In an off-line business you'd probably have a shop and people would pass by and drop in to browse and if there was something they liked and wanted they'd buy. But this was always parochial - relying on local people.
On-line - it's a totally different ball game. One well-known big player said.
"Early to bed, Early to rise, work like hell, AND ADVERTISE".
Now for someone with a small budget that could be daunting, but if you don't advertise how are people going to know about you? If you're starting any business online or offline you've got to have a certain amount of money. Starting a business with NOTHING was never an option..
However you can start a business with a small budget as long as you're careful how you use it.
You've got to ADVERTISE ! Otherwise how on earth are people going to know who, what or where you are - don't forget the web is a global business! So do it you must.
BUT, what are you going to advertise and to whom? Its now becoming clear that to directly advertise you primary product isn't the way to go - but that's the subject of another article.
You've got to entice people to come to you and this is your PRIORITY! So... how do you do that?
You GIVE away something of great value in return for some information - usually in the form of a name and an email address. I don't ask for a telephone number (although some marketers do) because there are a lot of people out there who don't like giving out their telephone number, and if it is asked for could well put them off replying to my carrot.
At the same time you're wondering how - with your small budget - you're going to afford to keep advertising. Well, the answer is quite simple. You're going to offer (not immediately, but very soon after you've collected names and emails) a low cost product - a product as low as $20.00 (its got to be good value even though its only $20.00) and you'll find people will buy a product at this price far quicker and easier than a $47.00 product, and this is how you fund your advertising campaigns. You can offer higher priced products once you've got the trust of your list.
This is whats called Funded Sponsoring.
The only way you're going to build a successful business (Rome wasn't built in a day) is if you provide good quality products (and you should choose very carefully) and you've got customers who trust you and who come back again and again to buy what you offer them. BUILD TRUST, BE HONEST and your business will thrive - but remember It Takes Time To Build Your List and Your Business
